In what could be the most expected news in the entertainment world, Netflix has renewed original series Stranger things for a second season. (Season 1 spoilers follow)
The immensely popular series was a sleeper hit for the streaming network. It came out of nowhere to capture the hearts and minds of the audience with its tight plot and 80s references.
It follows a young girl named Eleven, who has special telekinetic powers. She escapes a government laboratory after she communicates with a creature that is able to move between two parallel dimensions. The creature kidnaps a child named Will Byers and his friends and family struggle to find him and understand what has him.
They end up teaming up with Eleven to save Will, but seemingly at the cost of her life, but the end is left ambiguous as the sheriff is seen leaving Eggo waffles in the woods, which are Eleven’s favorite food.
Stranger Things became a hit with websites and fans crafting theories on what happened to Eleven and the creature and a season 2 was expected. Netflix was mum on the season two renewal until recently.
Creator Matt and Ross Duffer will return for season two, which has an expected air date of sometime in 2017. The duo have long talked about what might happen in season two calling it even darker than season 1. Check out the season 2 trailer below.
